主办:北京外国语大学许国璋语言高等研究院
讲座内容:Building on the language teacher identity (LTI) turn in second and foreign language education, and situating my lecture against a larger backdrop of globalization, transnationalism, and growing demands for accountability, I explore how a transdisciplinary approach to LTI research can yield valuable insights for language learning and teaching. I also illustrate through drawing on examples of LTI research conducted across the world how the development of language teacher identities is also a deeply political enterprise, that is, one that involves a consideration of issues of power and inequality, especially in situations where teachers may not have access to resources to support their pedagogy. One extension of such a critical and sociopolitical approach to LTI research is through the examination of teacher emotions, which I will demonstrate is relationally and discursively constructed. In addition to focusing on the theoretical and pedagogical value of carrying out LTI research to language teacher education programs, I will discuss methodological possibilities for advancing the LTI research agenda.
